School visit and meeting the mayor

Welcome dance

On the first day of our lovely stay in Ibi - Spain, we visited one of the local schools - San Juan y San Pablo. There, the teachers performed a local dance, which was meant to welcome the guests from the different countries in their school.

Meeting the mayor

After the school visit, all groups went into the minicipality, where we met the local mayor - Rafael Serralta Vilaplana.

He told us about the city's economy and its history. One interesting fact was that in the past, people used to store ice high up in the mountains during the winter and in the summer they sold it for money.

Rafael also played videos of the different festivals in the city throughout the year. During the 'Els Enfarinats' all the residents go out and throw eggs and baking flour at each other. What a mess!

Later, the students gifted the mayor with traditional things from their countries.
